Julie Gillespie

I’m Julie Gillespie, a senior leadership partner, with a dynamic and engaging approach. I love working with leaders to dig deep into what’s working and where there’s room to grow. Using a mix of profiling tools—like DISC, Motivators, Strengths, Resilience @ Work, Critical Thinking, and Emotional Intelligence—I help leaders reset their language around leadership, care, and accountability so they can interact with their people with greater efficiency. I’m known for being both pokey and fun, and I’m not afraid to ask the tough questions. My mission? To get you ready for anything, not everything, so you can lead with confidence and clarity, no matter what comes your way.

Training

At Well-Led Workplaces, we believe real cultural change begins with transforming the common language of an organisation. Through our tailored training programs—from Mental Health First Aid and Psychological Safety to Communications and general awareness—we create a shared understanding that brings every person into the business in a meaningful way. By shifting how people communicate and engage, we lay the foundation for inclusive, connected workplaces where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.

Training

Mental Health First Aid

CHANGING THE WAY WE TALK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH

Most people are familiar with the idea of physical first aid courses that teach the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies and provide a first aid response across a range of different situations.

Mental Health First Aid® (MHFA™) training adopts a similar approach.

Using a practical, skills-based action plan, participants learn the skills to recognise and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

Individuals who complete Mental Health First Aid® training are known as accredited MHFAiders. Equipped with the skills to listen, connect, and offer support when it matters most, MHFAiders play a vital role in reducing stigma and promoting pathways to support for those experiencing mental health problems in our workplaces and communities.

WORKPLACE FOCUS: Practical Support from a Business Leader Who Understands Your World

As a seasoned business leader with lived experience of mentall ill-health, Julie Gillespie brings a unique perspective to MHFA training. She meets you where you are, understanding the complexities you and your team faces, and tailoring the training to provide practical, actionable support.

  • Standard MHFA™ (Workplace Focus) - 12-hour face-to-face (2 days)

  • Blended Online MHFA™(Workplace Focus) - Online eLearning (6-hrs) + Online with trainer (either Zoom or Teams) (2 x 3-hrs)

Awareness Building

Our 1-hour Mental Health and Well-Being Awareness session is designed to engage every person in your organisation. We focus on creating a common language around mental health, normalising conversations, and ensuring everyone has the context to understand what is being discussed. By tying the session to your organisation’s values, we demonstrate how these values can translate into actions that cultivate a supportive, caring culture.

OVERALL PROGRAM OUTCOMES

  • Common Language: Every participant will understand and use a shared language around mental health, making it easier to discuss and address these topics openly.

  • Normalising Conversations: The session will break down stigma, helping people feel comfortable talking about mental health and well-being in the workplace.

  • Values in Action: Participants will learn how to connect the organisation’s values to specific actions that promote care and support across the team.

  • Building a Caring Culture: The training will empower individuals to contribute to a workplace where mental health is prioritised, and well-being is actively supported.

Communications Workshops

CHANGING THE WAY WE COMMUNICATE - ON PURPOSE

At Well-Led Workplaces, our communications programs equip leaders and teams with the essential skills to connect more effectively, strengthening collaboration, empathy, and trust.

Whether it’s engaging in compassionate conversations, confidently navigating difficult situations, or adapting communication styles and expressions of appreciation, our training enhances clarity and understanding in every interaction.

These programs are designed to empower both leaders and frontline teams to communicate purposefully, resulting in stronger connections and a more cohesive, adaptable workplace.

OVERALL PROGRAM OUTCOMES

1. Compassionate Conversations

  • Leaders will learn how to engage in purposeful conversations that support mutual care and accountability, without trying to "fix" others.

  • Teams will develop skills to foster a safe, courageous space for honest dialogue, improving both personal and professional relationships.

2. Zones of Communication

  • Frontline workers will gain confidence in managing challenging situations by applying clear communication techniques across different zones (Green, Amber, Red) to ensure positive outcomes.

  • Participants will learn to de-escalate conflicts and promote safety, maintaining trust and professionalism in high-pressure environments.

3. Adaptable Communication and Appreciation

  • Leaders will enhance their ability to adapt communication styles using DISC profiles, improving collaboration and reducing misunderstandings within teams.

  • Teams will build stronger connections by recognising and using each person’s language of appreciation, fostering a supportive and engaged workplace culture.

Psychological Safety

Psychological Safety is the core component of creating a resilient, adaptable team that’s ready for anything. Our training equips leaders with the practical language, behaviours, and actions needed to manage psychosocial stressors and cultivate a culture where trust and safety allow everyone to contribute and thrive.

Through foundational and full-day workshops, we use Timothy R. Clark’s "The Four Stages of Psychological Safety" to equip leaders with actionable strategies they can implement immediately. This training lays the foundation for addressing workplace challenges, ensuring psychological safety becomes a part of everyday leadership—building stronger, more adaptable teams ready to face any obstacle.

OVERALL PROGRAM OUTCOMES

  • Inclusion Safety: Leaders will create environments where every team member feels valued, included, and free to be themselves.

  • Learner Safety: Leaders will promote a culture where team members are safe to ask questions, seek feedback, and learn from mistakes without fear.

  • Contributor Safety: Leaders will empower individuals to share ideas and contribute confidently, knowing their input is valued and respected.

  • Challenger Safety: Leaders will foster an atmosphere where team members feel safe to challenge the status quo and drive innovation without concern for retaliation.

Having the language and actions to build a psychologically safe team, gives you a strong, collaborative foundation to resolve psychosocial hazards in an effective way.

What our Clients Say

Business Builder Coaching with Emma Schneider

This program helped me to clarify my values around my why to clarify my motivation to continue - even when things get hard. I was able to put into words subconscious blocks that I hadn't made the time to actually name and address before. In doing so, I was able to identify that even though I was holding on to those thoughts, I didn't actually believe them anymore in the cold light of scrutiny. I feel like that helped me move forward more purposefully. The accountability within the program was a big part of its success for me. The weekly 'check-in' definitely motivated me. My personal values of reflection and ongoing education were met by doing this coaching and showed me that I continue to make progress in my life goals and gave me permission to acknowledge this. I would recommend this program to others who are needing an accountability partner that supports what YOU need to move past any blocks in thinking or behaviours that are not serving you to get to where you want to be in life or in business.
