Are you uncomfortable having tough conversations?

Talking about mental health with someone? We so often label these conversations as 'hard', 'uncomfortable', 'awkward', BUT I think what we are doing is just labelling our own feelings about the conversation, not the other persons.

What could their feelings be about it? Yes, 'embarrassed', 'ashamed', and possibly 'angry' - but if you hold a safe space for someone, let them process these initial emotions, they may then get to feel relief.

To be seen, to be heard, is to feel human.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training gives you the tools and framework to be able to have conversations with someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or may be in crisis.

As a Principal Master Instructor, my goal is to help you become more comfortable with your discomfort, learn to use compassionate empathy as your boundary setting, and to truly support someone without becoming the 'fixer'.

I facilitate Workplace focused MHFA training in organisations, online, and onsite at the Collective Wellbeing Hub in Brisbane, QLD. Available dates and to enquire about training check out the comments for a link.
